Room Reps

One of the ways that the Parkview PTO supports community and connection at Parkview is by assigning each classroom a family member who is a Classroom Representative or “Room Rep.”

What is a Room Rep?

A Room Rep is a classroom family member that volunteers to support their classroom teacher and post to a group email list created for families in their class. Their duties may include:

Class Gifts: Room reps often help celebrate their teachers to help them feel special.

Meetups: They sometimes organize class meetups. It can be as simple as sending out an email to your class to say "Hey! We're going to Broadway Park today! Come join us!” This is not a requirement by any means, just a way to connect with other families and class friends.
Teacher Requests: Teachers may reach out to see if Room Reps can help with additional tasks. Room Reps are also welcome to reach out to their teacher and ask how families can help.

Event Reminders: Room Reps can also use the email group to help remind families of upcoming PTO events and other important school dates, such as field trips and performances.
Answer Questions and Consolidate Information: Parents can privately reply to their Room Rep through the group email. This can be used for class related questions or giving information to post about class playdates and activities outside of school. This reduces the number of emails to the entire class.

Why haven’t I seen a Room Rep Email?

Introduction emails are usually sent out by Room Reps around the first week of October. If you haven’t received an email by mid October:

Make sure there is a parent signed up for your child’s class. If not, YOU can sign up HERE.
If your class already has a volunteer, look below for your email group to search your spam folder.

PROTIP: If you find the email in your spam, move it to your inbox and reply to it with a quick “thank you.” This will make sure that it shows up in your inbox next time. Plus, it makes the volunteer who wrote it smile. 🙂
