FAMILY POLICIES + EXPECTATIONS

See below for important policies and information related to PTO Sponsored Enrichment.

  • All instructors, including substitutes, and PTO Volunteer Chaperones must complete the Bellingham Public Schools Volunteer application and pass the related background check.

  • Attendance

The Volunteer Chaperone or Volunteer Instructor (the “PTO Member”) is required to take attendance at the beginning of each class and submit the details to the PTO VP of Enrichment after each class session. If a student is unaccounted for, the PTO Member must report the absence immediately to the front office.

    Dismissal

The PTO Member is also responsible for the dismissal process. The PTO Member will release all students solely to their parent/guardian (or designated pick-up person from the roster), or per written instructions by the parent/guardian. Adults may be asked for Identification. Students who walk or bike home will sign themselves out.

  • The PTO Code of Conduct serves as a reminder of the importance of treating peers, instructors, class materials, teacher classrooms, and our school building with respect. Participating in after school enrichment is a privilege and we want to ensure everyone participating has a great and safe experience.

Respect instructors and follow directions, just like you do during the school day.

Respect other students, and treat them with kindness.

Communicate with appropriate language to students and the instructor.

Respect the space you are in. Remember that the room belongs to a Parkview teacher, and should be left clean and tidy. Do not disturb classroom materials.

In order to minimize disruption to Parkview teaching and administrative staff working in the building before and after school, we ask that providers take primary responsibility for student safety and behavior during their classes. Providers are expected to maintain appropriate and respectful behavior with students, families, and Parkview staff.

    BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT

The provider will work directly with students and parents to maintain appropriate behavior. Providers who experience challenging behavior that they are not able to resolve are required to report the behavior to the PTO as soon as possible. The PTO can work with families and our school counselor to help address and resolve consistently challenging behaviors.

Please email enrichment@parkviewpto.org if you have additional questions.

  • Updated February 2023

Enrichment classes at Parkview are sponsored by Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). We are a volunteer team of parents that coordinate the Enrichment schedule each quarter, serve as liaisons with Parkview staff, and provide registration services. The Parkview PTO will provide contact information for your Instructor and/or the PTO Member Chaperone who will serve as your main points of contact for the offering. Instructors are expected to communicate directly with families (via email, phone, or in person) about class information and dates, including any planned or unplanned class cancellations.

If you have last minute changes to student dismissal plans, or need to reach someone at the school, please email your instructor/ PTO Member Chaperone and call the front office.

  • If school is canceled, all after school activities will be canceled. Please call Bellingham School District (360.676.6400) or visit www.bellinghamschools.org for updates on school closures and delays.

  • Updated February 2023

If a student chooses to disenroll from an offering within 24 hours of the first class, the PTO asks providers to issue a full refund. After 24 hours, refunds are at the discretion of the provider. Please refer to the provider’s cancelation and refund policy in 6Crickets. Registration fees and tuition are not transferable to another student. Refunds will not be issued if a student misses one or more individual class sessions.

If the provider cancels a class session, the provider can choose to schedule a make-up session, or refund families. If class is canceled due to inclement weather, please refer to the provider’s related refund policy in 6crickets.

If the PTO must cancel a class session because the required PTO Chaperone cannot attend, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. The PTO will attempt to find a suitable substitute to act as the PTO Chaperone before canceling.

  • Students should provide their own snacks from home and not share their snack with other students.

If your student has a life threatening allergy, please connect with the provider to discuss details.

  • Please see information provided by the Bellingham School District.
